Lactose Intolerance Test

Lactose Intolerance Test

The Hydrogen Breath Test is used to identify lactose intolerance. This condition can lead to symptoms that include abdominal pain, bloating, or gas. You will need to fast for a minimum of 12 hours prior to the test. You will also need to drink 12 oz of whole milk 3 hours prior to your test. Upon your arrival to the office, you will then be asked to hold your breath for 15 seconds and slowly exhale into a specialized device that calculates the amount of hydrogen in your breath. Based on the results, we will be able to determine if you are lactose intolerant.
